What's different about Monopoly Voice Banking
-
Ride the Rails
Instead of purchasing the railroads, take a ride! Mr. Monopoly will send you to a random property space, where you'll have a chance to buy that property, put it up for auction, or pay rent if it's already owned.
-
Forced Trades
Land on a Trade space, and you may pay M100 to choose any one of your undeveloped properties and immediately trade it for your choice of any one of another player's undeveloped properties!
-
Build Hotels Faster
With Mr. Monopoly as your Banker, you can put up buildings faster than ever ! Skip the Houses, and go right for the Hotels!
You can build one House or one Hotel per property. Since quick building is tough work, you can't sell back Houses or Hotels once they're up, so build wisely.
-
The get out of Jail Free Card
This is the only physical Chance or Community Chest card in the game and is the coveted key to getting out of Jail for free!
All other cards are managed by Mr. Monopoly via the banking unit and are referred to as Chance cards.
-
Auctions Hosted By Mr. Monopoly
When you don't want to buy a property, you must auction it, and Mr. Monopoly will help! All players may bid by pressing their token's button, and the price goes up by M50 with each bid.
Mr. Monopoly will award the highest bidder the Title Deed and subtract payment from their account.
The Banking Unit

Game Play
How to Win
Move around the board buying as many properties as you can.
The more you own, the more rent you can collect, just like in regular Monopoly. If you're the player with the most money and the highest property value at the end of the game, you win!
Each player rolls both dice. The highest roller starts, and play moves to the left
On your turn
-
Roll both dice.
-
Move your token clockwise that number of spaces.
-
Where did you land? Carry out the rules of that board space using the banking unit commands as described.
Did you roll doubles? Roll the dice again , and take another turn.
Watch out! If you roll doubles 3 times in a row, you must immediately go to Jail!
Do not complete your third turn.
-
Pass the dice to your left. As soon as the next player rolls the dice, your turn is officially over.
The Board Spaces
Properties
Unowned Properties
When you land on an unowned property, you must buy it for the price listed on the space or auction it.
Want to Buy It?
-
Press your token's button on the banking unit and say, "Buy /'wait for the ping sound, then say, "[property name]".
-
Mr. Monopoly will tell you how much money he removed from your account to pay.
-
Take the Title Deed card.
Don't Want to Buy It?
It goes up for auction!
-
Press your token's button on the banking unit and say, "Auction OFF", wait for the ping sound, then say, "[property name]".
-
All players who want to participate get ready to push their buttons.
Mr. Monopoly will start the bidding at M50. The first player to push their token's button may bid M50 as long as they have enough money in their account. Anyone may bid at any time.
You don't need to follow turn order or wait for Mr. Monopoly to raise the bid. He'll only raise it when you ask him to!
-
Any time you'd like to bid, press your token's button. With each bid, the price will increase by M50. For example, Boardwalk is being auctioned. The first player to push their token's button will lock in with a bid of M50.
The second player will be in for M100. If another player bids, they will be locked in for M150, and so on. Mr. Monopoly will give you about 3 seconds between bids before he asks if anyone else wants to bid.
-
The auction ends when no player is willing to increase the bid. The property then goes to the highest bidder. Mr. Monopoly will announce how much money he subtracted from that player's account, and that player takes the Title Deed card.
If no one wants to bid on the property, that's fine. No one pays anything, and the Title Deed stays where it is. Mr. Monopoly will give you a final chance to bid and say, "Going once . . . going twice . . . nobody wants it for 50? OK! I'll keep it!" Then the auction will be over.
Collect Color Sets!
When you own each street in a color set:
- the amount of rent you can collect is increased!
- you may build Houses and Hotels and charge even more rent!
Here's a tip: When you own a set, build quickly! Players cannot force you to trade a property that has a building on it!
Owned Properties
When you land on a property that someone else owns, the owner must ask you for rent. If they do, you must pay the rent shown on the property's Title Deed card. If they don't ask before the next player rolls the dice, you don't have to pay!
To pay:
Press your token's button on the banking unit and say, "Pay rent ON", wait for the ping sound, then say, [property name]".
Mr. Monopoly will tell you how much rent he moved from your account to the property owner's account.
Important Tips for Using the Banking Unit
-
When you push your token's button to give a command, you'll hear a beep. This means Mr. Monopoly is listening. Wait until you hear the beep before you give a command.
Some commands must be given in two parts, and you must wait for a ping sound before you give the second half of your command. For example, when you want to buy a property, press your token's button. You'll hear a beep. Then say, "Buy", wait until you hear the ping sound, then say the property's name.
-
You don't need to hold down your token's button when talking to Mr. Monopoly.
-
Let your reference card be your guide!
-
Speak clearly and naturally, but don't yell. 5.
Use property names as they appear on the board so Mr. Monopoly can hear you and be the best Banker he can be!
-
Use the Undo button when you need to go
back one step. Note that Mr. Monopoly can only take you back one step.
-
Use the Repeat button when you need Mr. Monopoly to repeat the last thing he said.
-
If you ask Mr. Monopoly to do something that isn't possible, like buy a property someone else owns or pay for something you can't afford, he will let you know. Sometimes he'll ask a follow-up question. When he doesn't, press your button, and try a different command.
Action Spaces
Go
When you pass or land on the GO space , you get M200 from the Bank.
Press your token' s button, then say "Pass GO".
Mr. Monopoly will put M200 in your account.
Chance Card
Press your token's button on the banking unit, then say, "Chance card".
Mr. Monopoly will tell you what your card says and add money to or remove it from your account if necessary.
Railroads
You must hop on the train and take a ride to a random property space!
Press your token's button on the banking unit, then say, "Train ride".
Mr. Monopoly will tell you where your trip took you. Move your token there, and carry out the action of that space. Do not collect M200 if you pass GO.
Free Parking
Do nothing. Just take a break!
Just Visiting
If you land here, put your token in the Just Visiting section, and say hello to any friends in Jail.
Trade
When you land here, you may pay M100 to choose any one of your properties and immediately trade it for your choice of any one of another player's properties.
You may not choose properties that are part of a developed set-that is, a complete set that has at least one building-but you may choose a property that is part of a complete set with no buildings.
-
Press your token's button on the banking unit, and say, " Trade", wait for the ping sound, then say, [name of YOUR property you want to trade]".
-
Mr. Monopoly will ask which property you'd like to trade yours for. Respond with the property name. For example, "Marvin Gardens". If you choose to trade a property you do not own or to receive one that is not available, Mr. Monopoly will tell you to choose another.
-
Now swap Title Deeds! Mr. Monopoly will remember the trade.
Go to Jail
Move your token to the In Jail space immediately! Do not collect M200 for passing GO. You don't have to tell Mr. Monopoly you're in Jail.
Your turn is then over. You can still collect rent, bid during auctions, and buy Houses and Hotels. Players may still force trades with you while you are in Jail.
How do I get out of Jail
-
Pay M50 at the start of your next turn. To pay, press your token's button on the banking unit and say, "Get out of Jail". Mr. Monopoly will subtract M 50 from your account. Then roll and move.
-
Use the Get Out of Jail Free card at the start of your next turn if you have it. Press your token's button on the banking unit and say , "Get out of Jail". Then roll and move.
-
Roll doubles on your next turn. If you do, you're free! Just roll and move.
You can use up to 3 turns to try for doubles. If you don't roll doubles by your third turn in Jail, you must pay b..
Press your token's button on the banking unit and say, "Get out of Jail". Mr. Monopoly will subtract b50 from your account. Then roll and move.
Buildings
Building Houses and Hotels
As soon as you get a color set, you can start building Houses and Hotels (you don't have to wait for your turn).
Each property may have one House or one Hotel.
You may build a House on any property in a complete color set. Mr. Monopoly will charge you for the cost of the House. You may Jthen place a House on that space.
If you upgrade that House to a Hotel later, remove the House, and replace it with a Hotel.
You don't need to build Houses before you build Hotels. You can skip right to a Hotel! If you build a Hotel for a property without a House, Mr. Monopoly will charge you for the cost of a House and a Hotel, and you can place the Hotel on that space.
You may not sell back Houses or Hotels. It's a lot of work to put up a building! Once they're built, they stay where they are unless you use the property to pay a debt.
Not Enough Buildings?
If you try to build a building when there are none left, Mr. Monopoly will let you know. Then you will have to wait until someone loses theirs to a debt!
To build a building:
-
Press your token's button on the banking unit, then say, "Build a House" or "Build a Hotel", depending on which building you want
-
Mr. Monopoly will ask you which property you want the building on. Respond with the property name. For example, "Marvin Gardens".
-
Place the building you purchased on that property!
Trades
Property trades are allowed only when a player lands on a Trade space.
What if I run out of cash?
Owe money for something but don't have enough to pay? You must pay your debt with any cash you have and one of your properties.
When you do not have enough cash to pay a debt, Mr. Monopoly will ask you which of your properties you would like to give to resolve your debt. Along with any cash you have, that one property, no matter its value and no matter what you owe, will resolve your full debt.
If you pay with a property that has a building, that building goes back to the Bank. Any other buildings in that set also go back to the Bank since the set is no longer complete.
For example: You have M150 and own Baltic with a Hotel and Mediterranean with no buildings. You land on Vermont with a Hotel and owe another player M400.
-
After you try to pay rent, Mr. Monopoly will tell you you don't have enough money to pay and will ask which property you want to give that player.
-
Respond with the property name you want to pay with. In this case, you can say, "Mediterranean".
-
Mr. Monopoly will give Mediterranean to whomever you owe money. Then you will give the Title Deed card to that player.
-
He will also give that player your M150, and your balance will be MO.
-
Because you no longer own the complete property set, you must put the Hotel on Baltic back in the Bank.
If you don't have enough cash and have only one property to pay your debt with, Mr . Monopoly will pay that debt, you will go bankrupt, and that will end the game.
End of the Game
The game ends when one player goes bankrupt, that is, they have no money and no property. When this happens, Mr. Monopoly will immediately end the game and announce the winner!
More about the Banking Unit
To pause your game, simply put it away. It goes to sleep after Mr. Monopoly responds to a command and wakes up each time a player pushes their token's button.
When you take the game back out later, the unit will remember how much money each player had. Make sure you keep track of where your tokens were, your Title Deeds, and whose turn it is.To reset the game and start a new one, flip the On/Off switch from " On" to "Off" to "On".
